Atrosalarias fuscus is a blenny. It occasionally makes its way into the aquarium trade. It grows to a length of 14.5 centimetres (5.7 in). Two subspecies are recognised:

  • Atrosalarias fuscus fuscus (Rüppell, 1838) – black blenny or brown coral blenny; western Indian Ocean and the western central Pacific Ocean
  • Atrosalarias fuscus holomelas (Günther, 1872) – brown coral blenny or highfin blenny; coral reefs in the Pacific Ocean
