How are you enjoying saltwater so far? What are your plans for livestock?

Thanks! I really like the black sand look and that is why I went for it. It really makes the corals stand out.

This is going to be awesome. Do you already have a mantis picked out? This is going to make for a beautiful specimen tank! Any blues / actinics in that light?

TY for your comment. I am going to get our LFS to order me a Peacock Mantis once I get back from some traveling. I had originally thought about getting Tiger Mantis but I think the colors of a Peacock Mantis will really look great against the black moon sand & rock. . The light has a blue setting but I'm thinking about upgrading.

It's alive--this little crab is a survivor. :) It apparently was just upgrading shells & hiding out for a few days.

klm updated Acan Lord
2013-12-03 06:44:21 -0800
The Acan Lord Coral (Acanthastrea lordhowensis), also known as 'The Lord', is the most colorful of the Acanthastrea genus. This LPS Hard Coral, native to Australia, comes in many different colors from red, purple, green, orange, blue, rust, brown and pale gray, to pale tan. The Acan Lord Howe is a great coral and is very easy to care for. They are not at all demanding and they will readily grow new polyps. They do not need to be fed since they use the dissolved organics in the tank for nourishment. Try to avoid housing with soft corals as they do not do as well in their presence, and some will die if the softy population is too high. Provide a low water movement, and do not use Metal Halides since the Acan Lord will not fully open.

Did you start your fresh then decide to do salt along with it or were two tanks in the plan all along? :D Both are looking great so far.

I added some worms in order to increase the biodiversity of the sand. The species added belong to the Genera Polyoftalmus, Syllis, Nereis. Some of them are grazers, other filter feeders.
Some new Crumstacea are in the tank: Palaemon and some small Alpheus.
