was not doseing enough ty for you for help sps pulling alot of cal right now so i tryed to dose a little bit higher then normal and everything has been good ever scince. how has your tank been doing? hope everything is doing good.
yeah doing pretty good... my devils hand leather isn't happy, but everything else is growing... not sure what is ailing the one coral... Oh and one set of zas seems to be displeased as well... I believe I have a zoa eating snail... saw a snail shell half buried under the zoa... been trying to locate so I can remove it.
new SPS coral starting to show polyps very happy. Was worried at first they took a long time to start showing polyps. my other sps was showing polyps after fist day but glad all worked out. HAPPY REEFING EVERYONE
TY very much, i got them when i first started my tank .i did not have that much flow when i first started. then i tryed sps and then the flow changed its hard to get rid of them i like my duncan alot the duncan was one of my first corals when i bought my MP10 w i slowly moved up the flow i run it on REEF CREST mode at 1475 gph that is the total flow in my tank i do not count the return pump as flow
sorry forgot to add skimming and filtration filtration and flow being one of the main keys in a reef tank try to skim a little more wet then dry becuase of the extra proteins in the water coloum r u still cycling? but this is just my option
Cycle is now complete. I've had a pretty good size algae bloom in the last week and a half. Most of it is very long, green, stringy algae growing off of the live rock; none form the dry rock. The rest is short fuzzy green patches. Diatom bloom appears to be over.
My readings today were a ph of 8 and zeros across the board for the rest ( I don't test calcium, alkalinity, etc. yet). I expected more nitrates seeing as I had trace levels the last test a couple weeks ago, but I think the chemi pure elite and purigen I added 2 days ago may have taken care of it all.
I don't plan to use a skimmer in this system; but rather rely on weekly water changes and regular filter floss changes, while utilizing good carbon and purigen. Any comments are welcome and encouraged!
I plan on going to the lfs tomorrow to pick something up. Right now I'm thinking cleaner shrimp, but I could also go with some other shrimp like a pistol or peppermint. Potentially a goby already? that would be cool. I don't plan on picking up coral until all of the algae is gone. Let me know what you think!
